Why packaging matters in the organic supplements market

In the organic supplements market, every detail must confirm a promise: quality, transparency, and care for the environment. Packaging is one of those details. It protects delicate formulas, preserves their properties, and helps shape brand perception even before purchase. For those who choose natural, organic, and pure products, packaging is not just a functional support: it is proof of consistency.

Getting to know Sant’Egle

Sant’Egle: an off-grid organic project combining hospitality, agriculture, and natural wellbeing

Sant’Egle is an organic farming project founded in 2010 in Sorano, in the province of Grosseto, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. It is an off-grid, sustainable, low-environmental-impact business that combines an eco resort, an organic farm, and an online BioShop.

The business was born from a clear vision: to offer a more conscious way of living, producing, and consuming. Sant’Egle grows organic and biodynamic raw materials such as spirulina, saffron, RebA stevia, fruit, and vegetables, following an approach that respects the land and biodiversity.

What makes the brand unique is its direct control over the supply chain: Sant’Egle produces the raw materials used in its own supplements, all authorized by the Italian Ministry of Health. The formulations are made with 100% pure organic raw materials, with no sweeteners, additives, colorants, or preservatives.

The brand’s positioning revolves around genuine sustainability, waste reduction, plastic elimination, renewable energy, and zero-kilometre organic production. This is why packaging is fully part of its identity: functional, essential, and consistent with every brand choice.

🎯 The challenge

Sustainability and protection in a single pack

For Sant’Egle, the challenge was to find a solution capable of protecting the product while also making a concrete sustainable choice visible: less weight, fewer unnecessary components, greater attention to environmental impact, and real continuity between product, supply chain, and company identity.

The packaging had to meet specific requirements: protect delicate supplements, help preserve active ingredients, be practical for online sales, lightweight for shipping, recyclable, and suitable for products made with organic raw materials. On top of this, there was another important requirement: relying on 100% Italian packaging production, as a guarantee of quality, traceability, and consistency with a controlled production process.

In a market where many supplements are packaged in plastic or glass jars, Sant’Egle chose a more essential and conscious direction: bags made from Aticelca-certified recycled paper, without unnecessary optional features, to simplify separate waste collection and reduce the overall impact of the pack.

The choice of material also came from a reflection on the entire logistics cycle. Glass, often perceived as premium, is heavier, can break, and requires additional protective packaging. Paper, on the other hand, makes it possible to reduce weight, avoid extra protection, and simplify shipping management.

The results

Packaging that preserves both the product and the brand identity

The collaboration with Flexie enabled Sant’Egle to create recyclable paper doypacks in line with its organic and sustainable identity: lightweight, functional, and visually consistent with the brand world.

The bags are internally coated with a barrier designed to help preserve powdered products, pieces, and capsules. In this way, the pack meets a dual need: protecting the contents while maintaining a more sustainable packaging choice.

Sant’Egle also chose to eliminate the open/close tab, avoiding components that could compromise the correct recycling of the packaging. A simple decision, but perfectly aligned with the brand’s desire to reduce anything unnecessary.

Multi-design digital printing made it possible to manage different graphic references more flexibly, while maintaining an orderly and recognizable brand identity. Each product can have its own visual identity while remaining part of a consistent system.

The experience with Flexie was also appreciated for the working process: competitive pricing, kind and professional graphic design service, responsive customer care, and a flexible, empathetic approach. For Sant’Egle, the process was intuitive, easy to manage, and supported consistently through the different stages of the project.

🏆 The added value for the company

The competitive advantage: packaging that moves at the company’s pace

For an organic farming business that directly produces its own raw materials, packaging is part of the supply chain and must reflect the same care dedicated to the product.

The recyclable paper doypacks, Aticelca-certified and produced entirely in Italy, allow Sant’Egle to maintain a sustainable and reliable approach even during the packaging stage.

Production flexibility is an additional advantage: the brand can manage small batches, different references, and multiple graphics without compromising on quality. This allows the packaging to evolve together with the company, supporting new products, new needs, and new sales opportunities.

In a market where trust and consistency are decisive, Sant’Egle has found packaging capable of doing three things at once: protecting the product, simplifying logistics, and making its idea of sustainability visible.
